finish

When ordering a canvas print, you have several finishing options. Depending on your preferences, you can choose a rolled canvas, a stretched canvas on a wooden frame, or a fully framed canvas print. Below, I explain the differences so you can easily make the best choice for your interior.

Rolled canvas
With a rolled canvas, the canvas is carefully rolled up after production and shipped to the customer in a sturdy tube. This is a popular choice for those who want maximum flexibility. You can decide what to do with the canvas afterwards: have it stretched onto a frame, framed, or choose another presentation method. This option is also ideal if you want to have the canvas finished locally or keep transport costs as low as possible.

Stretched canvas
If you choose a stretched canvas, the canvas is professionally stretched onto a sturdy wooden frame after production. The canvas is pulled taut and comes with a hanging system, making the artwork ready to hang immediately.
This variant is perfect for customers who do not want a frame and prefer a modern, minimalist look where the canvas itself is the focal point.

Framed canvas
The framed version is the most luxurious finish. Here, the canvas is first stretched and mounted on a wooden frame and then professionally framed in an elegant black frame. The result is a high-quality finish that immediately gives the artwork a gallery look. This option is ideal for those who want a completely finished product that can be hung on the wall immediately.

By choosing the right finish, you ensure that your canvas print perfectly matches your interior and presentation preferences.

Frequently asked questions

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about my sustainable artworks made from recycled materials, commissioned art, and limited edition prints.

What makes your artworks special?

My artworks are made from thousands of pieces of residual and waste materials. Think of plastic caps, toys, cables, packaging, flip-flops, plugs, broken clothespins, and other materials that are usually thrown away.

From a distance, you see an image, portrait, or composition. Up close, you discover a world of recognizable objects. Larger works sometimes contain 20,000 to 30,000 pieces of material.

Each piece is collected by hand, cleaned, sorted, cut or sawn to size, and placed millimeter by millimeter. This is how sustainable mixed media art from recycled materials is created.

How is a work of art created from waste material?

Every artwork begins with a sketch on wood. Then I paint the base with acrylic paint. After that, the most time-consuming process begins: collecting, cleaning, sorting, cutting, and arranging thousands of pieces of material. Only when everything is visually correct do I attach the materials piece by piece by hand. Creating one artwork usually takes weeks to sometimes months.

Where do the materials for your art come from?

I collect many materials myself, for example on beaches, while traveling, or in daily life. In addition, cafes, restaurants, and friends help by saving things like plastic caps or packaging materials. I also receive materials from healthcare: packaging from medical supplies that are left over after operations and cannot be reused. In this way, materials that would normally be discarded are given a second life in a unique work of art made from sustainable waste.

What inspires you to work with waste?

During my travels through more than 50 countries, I saw the beauty of nature everywhere, but also more and more waste. At one point, I realized that waste is actually also material: material with color, form, and character. My mission is to make people look differently at waste, materials, and value.

Where are your artworks displayed?

My artworks are now displayed in many different places: in private homes, businesses, hotels, restaurants and cafés, and galleries. I collaborate with several galleries both domestically and abroad that share my mission regarding sustainability and circular art.

My work can now be found in, among others: the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, Norway, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.

How large are your artworks?

My works range from smaller pieces of around 40 × 40 cm to large statement pieces of 200 × 120 cm or larger. Larger works can incorporate tens of thousands of pieces of material.

Are there any prints or limited editions available?

Yes. Some original artworks are used to create high-end limited edition prints. These are scanned with a special technique so that all details remain visible, even the smallest materials. The maximum print run is 50 editions, ensuring it remains a unique artwork. Each print comes with a signed certificate of authenticity. This preserves the uniqueness of the original, while allowing more people to collect the work.

Do you also create commissioned artwork?

Yes. Commissioned art is an important part of my work. In many commissions, I incorporate personal objects, such as jewellery, children's toys, materials with emotional value, and objects with a personal or family history. This way, not only is a work of art created, but also a tangible story full of memories.

Do you also create artworks for businesses, hotels, or restaurants?

Yes, I regularly create custom artworks for businesses and hospitality venues such as hotels and restaurants. These works often align with: the company's story, brand identity, sustainability and innovation, an anniversary (e.g., a 50th anniversary), a company logo, or a visual concept. This creates a unique and meaningful statement piece for a space.

How much does an artwork cost?

The price depends on size and complexity. Original artworks start at €4,000. Limited edition prints range from €95 for a poster to €1,500 for a large framed canvas edition.

Is it possible to view an artwork in person?

Yes, there are several ways to do so. My work is regularly exhibited in galleries, at exhibitions, in hotels, restaurants, and other locations where my work is displayed. Additionally, you are welcome by appointment in my studio. My studio is located on my houseboat near Amsterdam, in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel.

How can I purchase a work of art or discuss a commission?

You can easily get in touch via the contact form on this website, WhatsApp or, for example, Instagram. I always respond personally and as quickly as possible.

Can I reserve a work of art or try it out?

Yes, that is possible. An artwork can be reserved in consultation. Sometimes a trial placement of about a week is also possible, so you can experience how the work feels in the space.

How is an artwork shipped?

Depending on the artwork, I opt for personal delivery. Other works are professionally packaged with the utmost care and shipped insured. I am also personally involved in these transports, so that every artwork arrives safely and in perfect condition.

Do you also offer creative art workshops?

Yes, I offer creative upcycled art workshops for groups of friends, families, companies, teams, or other groups – everyone is welcome. During a workshop, you'll create your own artwork from waste materials. It's often a surprising experience; people discover how creative waste can actually be.

My eBook, which will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create your own upcycled artwork at home, will be released soon.
